Whilst less than 50% of women notice hair loss before they are 40, there are still more than 40% that do.
If you are wondering if there is a female hair loss remedy well there are some around, but the treatment will depend on the reason for the hair loss in the first place.
Some women can experience hair loss whilst in their teens or twenties, others at times of great stress or hormonal change. Women rarely go bald (unless there are underlying reasons such as cancer treatment), they tend to experience thinning. This might not be immediately obvious and many women don’t really notice that there might be a problem until they see more hair than normal after showering or sleeping.
The most common causes of hair loss in women are
- Hormonal
- Stress
- Medical treatments
- Hair chemicals such as colors
- Poor hair management, including tight ponytails and braiding
- Vitamin and mineral imbalance
- Poor diets
- Circulatory problems.
- Medications such as the birth control pill.

There are a number of products to help hair loss in women, once you have worked out what might be the underlying issues. Hormonal changes are a very common cause of hair thinning and brittleness. This often coincides with the results of years of using chemicals such as colors and bleaches and even the use of hairdryers. All these can contribute to an unhealthy head of hair with problem thinning.
Hair follicles can also become blocked with a build up of sebum (a fatty substance secreted from the glands near the hair follicles) which can cause the hair to fall out and in some cases bacteria can inhibit hair growth as well. It is important to look at natural products like lavender thyme and jojoba oils to clean the hair and follicles properly. These cleanse and have antiseptic properties as well.
Many products on the market try and address the problems of women and hair loss, with varying results. Some simply clean the hair and scalp and allow the hair through again and in some very minor cases, this and some patience may be all that is needed. In the majority of cases however, female hair loss treatment will need a combination approach. If the hair loss is not a temporary side effect of something like pregnancy or serious illness or thyroid problems, then a combination of nutritional supplements and hair solution will be more efficient. Those products containing Minoxidil (now approved by the FDA) with vitamins and minerals seem to work best, by cleansing and encouraging hair growth and providing the correct nutritional balance to help alleviate hair loss in women.
